I have been interested in art from an early age. In 1993, I graduated from a three year Bachelor of Creative Arts course, majoring in Painting and Printmaking. This was a wonderful experience as it allowed me to explore so many mediums and techniques that I had never tried before! I have produced works in oils, acrylic, pastel, charcoal and pencil. Over the years I have participated in numerous group exhibitions and have received a number of commissions. It would be a dream come true to have a solo exhibition one day…
The principal theme in my work focuses on the detail contained in nature, still life and intimate landscapes. I have a passion for drawing flowers and macro photography. Manipulation of light and colour are important to me – I love the interplay of light and shadow on a subject, I think it serves to focus attention on its beauty or character.
I have only just recently discovered coloured pencil as a medium for fine art – it is so versatile for me as I have two part time jobs and limited time to work on my art. I am constantly amazed at the variety of artist quality brands, techniques and supports that can be used. I am excited to explore all the possibilities!
